Club History - 1995

Denis O'Sullivan, Captain, accepts the Junior A West Cork Cup after winning it for the first time in Club History. 

Junior A Championship
In the first round we played Bandon where we didn't get into the game until the second half but ran out winners on a score of 1-9 to 9 points.

In the second round we played Timoleague where we played well and won on a score of 1-11 to 2-5.

In the Semi-Final we played Gabriel Rangers who put us under a lot of pressure however we luckily won the game on a score of 1-8 to 1-6.

We had finally made it to the West Cork Final where we played Carbery Rangers however we were clearly the underdogs. In the first half we worked up a lead which Carbery Rangers reduced to one point in the second half. However we took control and came out winners on a score of 1-13 to 9 points. This was our first ever Junior A West Cork Title.

In the Quarter Final of the County we played Garnish. We were down two points by half time however in the second half we started to take control of the game and won on a score of 14 points to 8.

We played Dromtarriffe in the Semi-Final in a tough game where we were lucky to come out with a draw. In the replay we made more of our possession and won on a score of 10 points to 1-5.

The stage was set for a historic County Final against Glenville in Newcestown. Excitement grew throughout the parish coming up to the final with red and yellow colouring the countryside. In the first half Glenville took the lead and led by 5 points by half time. In the second half the players gave it their all but Glenville finished strong and won by three points on a score of 8 points to 5.

The Junior A Team who won the first ever Junior A West Cork Championship for Tadhg MacCarthaigh. 

U21 Championship
In the first round we played Skibbereen where we drew the match on 7 points a piece.

In the replay we were convincing winners on a score of 2-11 to 1-9.

In the Quarter Final we met Dohenys which was a tight game but we came through with a late point to win on a score of 1-10 to 1-9.

In the Semi-Final we met Clonakilty and won on a score of 1-8 to 2-4.

In the West Cork Final we played Castlehaven on 7th May where we dominated the first half but left them close the gap before half time with a goal to make the score 1-3 to 9 points. Casltehaven dominated the second half and won by a point.

Junior A League
We won four games and lost two but after getting a walk over from Drimoleague and Timoleague we qualified for the play-offs where we were drawn against Castlehaven who we beat by two points. We played Carbery Rangers in the League Final in December and came out easy winners.

Minor A League
We lost two games drew with Leap and beat Bandon.

Minor A Championship
In the first round we played Bandon who beat us by four points.

Junior C League
We won three games beating, Skibbereen, Drimoleague and Leap.

Junior C Championship
In the first round we got a bye from Timoleague.

In the Quarter final we played Clonakilty who came out easy winners.
